As a general rule you should only register with companies in the top 100. However they are exceptions to the rule because some of smaller companies have better customer service and support. But beware not to register with a company that is fast losing market share; you have to ask the question ‘…why are so many of its existing customers choosing to go to the competition
Domain registrar review
Go Daddy:
Gold award
DNRH rating: 5
INTERFACE: 5
VALUE FOR MONEY: 5
SECURITY: 5
ADD ONS: 5
Go Daddy is the Usain Bolt of the domain name registration industry. It is miles ahead of the competition and for good reason. Its business model is based on two simple points: firstly give value for money and secondly an impressive array of add on features.
What we like
The price. You can not argue with the economics of Go Daddy's pricing structure. However it does not end there Go Daddy’s telephone support staff professionalism is second to none. In an era where call centre staff have a bad reputation it is refreshing to speak to some one who listens and is not trying to sell you something at every opportunity. Most companies will give you the option of contacting them via email however sometimes you just want to speak to someone. Full marks to Go Daddy for investing in the human element.
Go Daddy also has an impressive list of free extras that you get when you register a dot com domain. Some of the free extras that you get are Go Daddy Photo Album, personalised email address, free hosting with Web Site Builder for a 5 page website and quick Blogcast.
What can be improved?
Go daddy’s home page is too busy which can be confusing to those not used to its interface. Go daddy aggressively promote add on features which can be annoying for someone who simply wants to register a name without the fuss.

Name.com has recently undergone a site revamp and it was definitely money well spent. It now has a clean and crisp looking site. No gimmicks, no tricky; Name.com does what it says on the tin. We like that!
What we like
Name.com has a clean, simple user friendly interface. It has a logical placement for the various navigation tools. We know that this is a bold claim however we will put it out there anyway; Name.com probably has the best interface of all the domain name registration companies. Try it for yourself and you will see want we mean. We also like the availability of the recently deleted domain names at registration fee. Nice touch.
What can be improved
If we are been picky maybe Name.com needs to have a presence on some the popular domain name forum sites.
Moniker
Bronze award
DNRH rating: 3
INTERFACE: 2
VALUE FOR MONEY: 3
SECURITY: 5
ADD ONS: 3
Moniker boosts that it has never had an account hi-jacked, ever. Admittedly that is an impressive statistic. Moniker has changed a lot over the years from a small customer centric company to a large bottom-line focus company.
What we like
Moniker is the registrar of choice for a lot of professional domain investors. One of the reasons for this its second to none security features, Moniker’s reputation definitely precedes it. You can also check registration availability on up to 500 domains at one time which is a very handy feature to have if you are thinking of bulk registrations.
Moniker holds live auctions at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. which have proved to be very popular with the domain name investor population.
What can be improved?
The user interface and navigation is a bit too busy and it takes some getting used to.
Best of the rest
